Civil Litigation
Civil litigation involves legal disputes between individuals, businesses, or other entities that are resolved through the court system. Unlike criminal cases, which involve violations of criminal law, civil litigation deals with issues like contract disputes, personal injury claims, property disagreements, or employment disputes. In civil litigation, one party (the plaintiff) files a complaint against another party (the defendant), alleging that the defendant has caused harm or breached a legal duty. The process includes pre-trial procedures such as gathering evidence (discovery), negotiation attempts for settlement, and eventually a trial if the parties cannot reach an agreement. The goal is to resolve the dispute fairly and provide remedies such as monetary compensation or specific performance of an action, as determined by the court.
